14 Days of Strategic Prayer Focus for Park Ave. Baptist Church

We would like to invite you to join us for a PABC church-wide strategic prayer emphasis concerning the recent increase of cases with the Coronavirus and its variants.
With 2 Chronicles 7:14-16, Psalm 91:1-3 and Hebrews 10:19-23 as a foundation, we are challenging people to pray each day at 7:14am or 7:14pm, individually or with others, and whichever time works best for your schedules. In addition, you may also choose to pray with your family at one of your mealtimes on specific days or any other time of the day. The key component is that we pray in focused unity and with perseverance for this 14-day period. We are providing a daily strategic prayer guide for you to use which will be posted each day at 7:00am on the Park Ave. Baptist Church Facebook page. Park Avenue Baptist Church - Home | Facebook  You may also pick up a copy of the entire 14-day guide in the church foyers or in the church office.

We encourage you to set an alarm on your phone or watch as a reminder and use the attached prayer guide to pray consistently as a united church each day at this specific time. There are also scripture verses connected to the various prayer areas we are focusing on each day along with a suggested prayer available as well.
Thank you for joining with us in this unified prayer season and let’s stand on God’s promises from His Word, putting our hope and trust in Him to answer our prayers, for His glory!

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.  Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.  For now, I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.” (2 Chronicles 7:14-16 NKJV)

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty, whose power no foe can withstand.  I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I confidently trust!  For then He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.” (Psalm 91:1-3 AMPC)

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:19-23 NKJV)

The 14-Day Prayer Directives

Day 1. Pray for all strains of the coronavirus to stop spreading.
Almighty God, we know that everything is in Your sovereign control. We ask that You keep this new strain of the coronavirus from continuing to spread. Help people to make wise decisions and look to you for strength concerning what they should and should not do. Holy Spirit, remind us all to take responsibility to pray continually for Your power to stop this virus completely.
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea…” (Psalm 46:1-2)

Day 2. Pray for people who are infected with COVID-19 and other medical issues as well as those caring for someone who is.
Jesus, during Your ministry on Earth You showed Your power and caring by healing people of all ages and stations of life from physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. Be present now to people who need Your loving touch because of COVID-19. May they feel Your power of healing through the care of doctors and nurses. Take away the fear, anxiety, and feelings of isolation from people receiving treatment. Protect their families and friends and bring peace to all who love them.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” (Philippians 4:6)

Day 3. Pray for the Church
Father God, we pray for churches to be a light and support to our city and Brevard County during this resurgence of this virus. We pray people would know that they can look to PABC and other parts of the Body of Christ for help. Jesus, help us, as Your body to reach out to any that need our support and encouragement. May we be proactive to point others toward your love with our practical acts of love and compassion.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:4)

Day 4. Pray for medical professionals, caregivers, and researchers.
God, as the number of cases has increased, healthcare workers and first responders are working longer hours with fewer breaks and with more risk of contracting the coronavirus themselves. Renew their energy and sustain them on long shifts. Bring Your protection upon them as they work with patients. Multiply their resources and support so they have the protective items needed to stay safe on the job. Inspire and invigorate the research doctors developing better tests to diagnose the virus, create vaccines to prevent it, and identify medicines to bring swift healing as well as eliminate the disease’s spread.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

Day 5. Pray for leaders responsible for making decisions about the coronavirus.
Father, we seek Your wisdom daily. Be with people making decisions that affect the lives and futures of our families and communities, specifically Brevard County and the state of Florida. We pray that they communicate clearly, truthfully, and calmly — with each other and with the public — and that their messages are received and heeded. May truth and wisdom be the touchstones of people setting policies for our protection.
“He delivered us from so great a death and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.” (2 Corinthians 1:10-11)

Day 6. Pray for our school administrators, teachers, employees and students.
Father, as schools begin to restart, please give wisdom to all as they adjust and re-adjust to this latest wave of the virus. We ask that You guide people in the steps they should take. Give teachers, employees, parents and students grace for each other. Prompt words of kindness, hope and encouragement to come forth. Help children find ways to experience your peace, to begin their school year with great attitudes and without fear.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

Day 7. Pray for business owners and families facing financial stress.
Jesus, we thank You for Your faithfulness in how you have guided and equipped people in their jobs and have provided in the past. It can be scary and overwhelming not knowing how bills and obligations will be met as this virus continues to linger. As people feel financial strain during the uncertainty, bring them comfort and peace, reminding them that You are there for them. Provide for them in their times of need.
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Day 8. Pray for grocery store and food service workers.
Lord, we are so grateful for all the people who work each day so that people can eat. We ask that You bless and protect them as they serve. Give them grace to handle disgruntled customers during the various changes. Keep their bodies healthy as they unload and stock boxes of supplies. Keep their cars and trucks running smoothly as they deliver needed supplies and continue to stock the grocery stores and restaurants. And please protect them all from contracting the coronavirus.
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Day 9. Pray for the most vulnerable in our community, including the elderly and those with compromised medical issues.
Father God, we pray that you would protect those in our city and county who are most vulnerable to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We lift up the elderly, those with pre-existing health conditions and those without access to good medical care. We pray they would know your peace, comfort and protection. Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we are asking you to heal all those who are sick at this time and hospitalized by COVID-19 or any strain associated with it.
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Day 10, Pray protection for people who are at higher risk of developing the virus.
Dear Lord, we lift to You our concern for people who are more likely than others to become severely ill from COVID-19 — the elderly and people with chronic health conditions as well as others. Protect them from harm and be their comfort in this time of uncertainty and, for many, preventive isolation from loved ones.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Day 11. Pray for Governments and policy makers
Father God, we pray for great wisdom for our government and health advisers. Lord God, please guide their decisions and help them to communicate plans clearly. We pray they would make decisions which would quickly and effectively stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Sustain our leaders and grant them energy during a time where they will be working long hours under great stress and strain. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)

Day 12. Pray for health workers and medical researchers
Father God, we pray for health workers around Titusville, Brevard County and the state of Florida. We give thanks for each one of them and ask you to sustain and keep them during these times. Grant nurses, doctors and other health professionals great wisdom as they make medical decisions and give them energy and resilience as they continue to work long hours under great pressure. We pray that you would continue to grant researchers supernatural understanding and insight as they continue to study vaccine effectiveness and the developing variants of COVID-19. Amen.
“This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)

Day 13. Pray for those who are particularly lonely and fearful
God, we thank you that your perfect love casts out all fear. We lift up those in our church, community, county and further who are feeling gripped by fear during these times. We pray where there is fear, your peace would reign. Father, we ask you to send us out to the ones who need to be visited or encouraged during this time. May we be the physical hands, feet, voice and heart of Jesus to go to them as He sends us. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

Day 14. Pray for families continuing to adjust to new ways of life.
Father, as families adjust and re-adjust to this latest wave of virus cases, we ask that You guide them in the steps they should take. Give spouses grace for each other. Prompt worn-out parents to speak words of kindness and encouragement to their children. Help children to experience your salvation while finding you in this crisis.
“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by.” (Psalm 57:1)
