Park Avenue’s Journey Continues
We at Park Avenue are being called into a time of “transition.” This will position the church for future effectiveness by equipping and releasing the next generation of leaders. Park Avenue is launching into the next generation of effective ministry.
Why?
Pastor Richard and the Elders have spent great amounts of time in prayer, research, and discussion about the current and future direction of Park Avenue.
They have reached this conclusion by reviewing the Reveal survey results, receiving guidance from Alan Smith, and garnishing insights from key leadership within the church. These conclusions have also been confirmed by Alan Vincent.
Four Pillars
If we are going to fulfill the vision God has given us to impact every person in North Brevard, it is essential that change happen in four primary areas…
What will make this a reality?
Designed with Community in Mind
Having all services on one day will help create the culture and produce the community that will empower us to reach North Brevard with a relevant expression of what God is like.
1st Service
This service will look and feel much like our current Sunday morning service and will maintain a blended worship style.
Community Hour
This will include education, fellowship, and mentoring. Our community hour will incorporate weekly bible studies, Sunday school classes, mentoring, fellowship opportunities, and Group Life.
2nd Service
This service will be more energetic and outreach-focused by design.
We want your Input
We as a leadership team want all the input you can give us during this transition process. Our desire is to be as successful as possible, and you can help.
Please ask questions, make suggestions, and give us your thoughts and words from God. Pray for our church. We are asking everyone to make a change. While change is challenging, transformation is invaluable.

It seems like this will be a very important weekend and I would love to have been part of it. However I can wholeheartedly endorse what you are planning to bring to the Church this weekend. So I can certainly stand with you and Alan Smith in what you will be bringing to the people. One thought that immediately came to mind as I was praying this morning. God reminded me of a principle that He taught me some years ago when I was dealing with some tensions between generations in some churches such as worship styles in music, dress in meetings, active participation in meetings, organizing various programs etc. etc. He showed me the practices which were given to Moses for the Levitical Priesthood to follow should be our guide. While we are not bound by these laws, they do set forth some valuable principles in every area of life.
God basically said to me that He is a three generational God and each generation should be allowed to have its day. This means that the present generation should be leading His people and the previous generation and the future generation should support them and let them have the dominant leadership role in their day. The years of service in the Tabernacle for priests were fixed to be between 20 to 50 years. There was to be honor, respect and a valuing of the younger and the older generations and mutual respect among each other. The older generation’s advice and wisdom should be gratefully received and carefully considered and the younger generation’s perspective should also be listened to very carefully. But when it comes to leadership, setting the vision, setting the budget, deciding the pace and the cultural house styles, it should be set by the 20’s to 50’s. This means in a well balanced leadership team, including the Eldership, the average age should be about 35 years, not much older.
Jesus also said a wise scribe of the Kingdom keeps a balance between things old and things new. He shouldn’t reject either. But we need to test everything and only hold fast to that which is good.
I’ll be praying for you all this weekend.
